Getting Around Chicago
CTA - “L” or Bus
Chicago’s public transportation system (CTA) is an affordable and convenient way to get around the city, with trains and buses running frequently throughout the day. We recommend downloading the Ventra app to easily plan your route and purchase tickets—weekend passes are a great option for unlimited rides over 1–3 days.
Uber / Lyft
Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are widely available throughout Chicago and can be a quick, convenient way to get around—especially for late nights or areas less served by public transit. Fares can vary depending on the time of day and location.
Driving
Driving in Chicago is absolutely manageable. If you plan to drive around the city, be prepared for city traffic and limited street parking. Most metered parking can be paid through the ParkChicago app, which makes it easy to pay, extend time, and avoid tickets. Just be sure to check posted signs for any restrictions or permit zones.

Lakeview is the neighborhood we (Tom and Kylee!) call home—it's super family-friendly, full of cute shops, great restaurants, and just a short walk from the lake. Right next door is Lincoln Park, where you’ll find tons of green space, the free zoo, and plenty of spots to hang out and explore. It’s the perfect mix of city life and cozy neighborhood vibes! We will be hosting our welcome dinner in this neighborhood at Parsons Chicken and Fish.
